Benjamin Carlton is an actor, activist, and proud co-founder of BMe Community. He studied communications and received his MBA from Florida A & M University. Before co-founding BMe, Benjamin worked as an auditor with PriceWaterHouse Coopers. Some of his acting credits include Netflix’s Dolemite starring Eddie Murphy, Showtime’s SMILF starring Rosie O’Donnell, and Vice’s Grown.
Today Benjamin works as a consultant in the edutainment space using the star power of Hollywood to bring love, light and equitable strategies to communities and corporate spaces.
Benjamin started this journey when he broke the internet in 2016 after coming out as a gay minister in TheRoot.com through BMe’s Black Men Love Campaign. The TEDx speaker took his message of authenticity on the road and encourages his audiences to live their best authentic lives every day. In 2021, he released is highly anticipated book “I’m Black, I’m a Minister and I’m Gay” and launched STAN for LOVE, a global tour designed to elevate the Black Queer experience.
As one of the new advocacy voices fighting for the Black and LGBTQ+ community, through humor and empathy, Benjamin is able to move an audience to action. Benjamin has trained some of the world’s leading authorities to include - Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, The Obama Foundation, Comcast Universal, VIACOM CBS, General Motors, Friends of the Children, and so many others.
As we progress towards a more diverse nation, Benjamin fervently works to share messages of hope, Love, and equity for all.
